My first blog post....

This is my first blog ever but Alana and Abe both made blogs and it looked like so much fun so I decided to join them...
We arrived in Florence on Tuesday and have spent the past few days getting oriented with Florence and NYU in Florence. We spend around 7 hours at Villa La Pietra (the NYU Campus) and the rest of the time in our beautiful apartment or just walking around the center of Florence. My apartment, Piazza D'Azeglio, has been nicknamed "the castle" because it is huge and has really high ceilings. We are located across from a huge park that has a carousel and down the block from the synagogue, chabad house, the only kosher restaurant and the only kosher market. There are 14 girls living in our apartment (3 doubles, 1 single, 1 triple and 1 quad). Of the 14 girls 11 are Jewish. Unfortunately Blair and Esther aren't living with us but hopefully once we all get cell phones we'll be seeing a lot more of them. Abe and Zandi have been our most frequent guests and are basically our token guy friends for the trip so far. We do pretty much everything with them and hopefully they won't get sick of us any time soon. I think someone said that out of 300 students, 30 are guys. So we really enjoy Abe's and Zandi's company. But anyways, back to our castle. When you first walk in there is a huge common room with couches, a tv, tables and chairs. But if you look up there is a huge fresco on the ceiling which is really cool. Most of the rooms are really big with extremely high ceilings. While this is really nice and makes the rooms feel very spacious it also makes the room freezing because all the heat rises... But we've been learning to deal with the weird Italian heating laws. Anyways, a master blogger once told me that it is better to write short posts more frequently than to write really long posts infrequently" so stay tuned for more! until next time arrivederci :)
